The filter basket or coffee basket is a game changer when it comes to coffee making and controlling the perfect ratio. A well built filter basket will allow the user to control and extract the best out of their coffee.
With a vast range of different sizes, shapes and finishes, the industry of filter baskets seems like an oversaturated market. Although there is an abundance in brands, the market is mainly dominated by two manufacturers: IMS and VST.
Our journey to become a household name began with a close relationship with IMS Italy to create our own standard of baskets under the name PESADO 58.5.
We focused on making a filter basket that will pair perfectly with our 58.5mm tampers, meaning we had to make sure our filter basket could handle the sharp 90 degree angle of the coffee tamper and be durable enough to withstand heavy use without minimising quality or precision.
The quality and precision on a filter basket is controlled by a few steps in the manufacturing process; these include the shape, hole size, polish and finish.
The Pesado 58.5 filter basket features funnel shaped holes which are each tested for circularity. Each hole is spaced out evenly to effectively cover most of the surface of the basket. This maximum coverage allows for the best possible extraction.
The filter basket is electro-polished all throughout, which creates a smooth finish ensuring low friction during extraction. The electro-polish also increases durability and overall cleanliness.
